New CSaP Advisory Council members appointed

We are pleased to announce the appointment of four new members to the CSaP Advisory Council.

Each of the new members bring a distinguished record of leadership, expertise and insight, and we are delighted that they have agreed to contribute their time and expertise to the work of the CSaP Advisory Council.

Professor Michael Kenny

Professor Michael Kenny is the inaugural Director of the Bennett School for Public Policy, and Professor of Public Policy, at the University of Cambridge. A leading scholar in public policy, governance and devolution, British politics and political ideas, he has held senior academic roles at Queen Mary University of London, the University of Sheffield, and Queen’s University Belfast.

Professor Anand Menon

Professor Anand Menon is Director of the UK in a Changing Europe and Professor of European Politics and Foreign Affairs at King’s College London. He is a leading authority on UK-EU relations, and he has written extensively on European politics, Brexit, and foreign policy. Before joining King’s, he held academic posts at the University of Birmingham, the University of Oxford, NYU and Columbia.

Salma Shah

Salma Shah is the Founder of Kraken Strategy and a former Government adviser. A communications and public policy expert, she served as Special Adviser to the Government from 2014-19 and has held positions in several UK government departments. She previously worked as a producer for BBC political programmes and is a prominent political commentator.

Dr Hannah White

Dr Hannah White is CEO of the Institute for Government, leading its work to improve the effectiveness of government. She started her career as a parliamentary clerk, is a former secretary to the Committee on Standards in Public Life and serves on the boards of the Law Commission and Involve. In 2020 she was awarded an OBE for services to the constitution.


Professor Sharon Peacock, Chair of the CSaP Advisory Council and Master of Churchill College, Cambridge, welcomed the new members, commenting:


"As Chair of the CSaP Advisory Council, I am acutely aware of the need for breadth and depth of expertise within our membership if we are to provide the best possible strategic and other advice to CSaP. The recent appointment of Michael, Anand, Salma, and Hannah to the Council is fantastic news. They will bring exceptional experience and expertise to the Council and I anticipate that they will make important and impactful contributions. Speaking on behalf of the Council, we extend our warmest welcome and look forward to working with them."


Rob Doubleday, Executive Director at CSaP, also welcomed the new appointments, adding:
