Share

Overview

The PHG Foundation and the Centre for Science and Policy is hosting a workshop at the Wellcome Trust as part of a project investigating the opportunities and challenges of new DNA sequencing technologies and whole genome sequencing for medicine and health care (see: http://www.csap.cam.ac.uk/media/uploads/files/1/phgf-wgs-leaflet.pdf).

Discussions at the workshop, which will take place on 16 June 2011 (2pm – 6pm), will focus on recommendations that have been formulated based on research and expert views on the primary applications, operational barriers and the impact of these technologies on clinical practice.

In addition to invited talks, the workshop will provide an opportunity for participants to give their own perspectives on these issues and to discuss the proposed policy recommendations and their potential recipients.

Attendance at this event is by invitation only. If you would like to receive an invitation, please send an email to jackie.ouchikh@csap.cam.ac.uk.

    Whole Genome Sequencing

Whole genome sequencing will throw up ethical and legal issues and new regulatory challenges. There will also be practical issues to consider, such as how whole genome sequencing services will be delivered for the NHS and other users.
