Aoife was previously a research assistant with EPRG, based at the Faculty of Economics, from December 2007 to October 2009. She worked on a range of projects related to energy demand, including smart metering and retail sector climate strategies. Aoife holds a M.A. in International Relations and International Economics from the Johns Hopkins University School of Advanced International Studies, where she focused on energy and environmental policy

Aoife's research topic is: Management of energy consumption in large commercial settings: behavioural and organisational change. Further research interests include: Demand-side energy management and response; Energy and environmental issues in developing countries
