Charles Collis heads the robotics research group and the external technology and research team at Dyson Ltd, a leading domestic appliance and technology company, where he has worked for the last ten years.

Charles is a technology generalist and has long been involved in finding and developing technologies that create new opportunities especially at cross-disciplinary boundaries, in areas such as robotics and wearable computing. He is especially interested in disruptive technologies, both from a technical and social perspective.

For the last few years a significant proportion of his time has been spent developing the company's university research programme, which leads him to being based in Cambridge part-time.
