She currently works as a Research Associate at the School of Engineering at Newcastle University. Prior to this she worked as a Research Associate at the Institute of Astronomy and Cambridge Zero where she investigated the feasibility of using ariel thermal infrared imagery to target building energy efficiency.

Dr Ben is a researcher in sustainable architecture. She was awarded a doctorate in Architecture at the University of Cambridge, funded by Cambridge Trust, and subsequently joined Cardiff University working on the SPECIFIC II LCBE project at the Welsh School of Architecture. Previously she obtained a MPhil-Res in Architecture from the University of Cambridge, a MA in Architecture from the University of Liverpool and a BArch from Wuhan University of Technology. She was also a visiting researcher on the UserTEC project at Aalborg University Copenhagen.

Her work focuses on the interactions between occupants and energy retrofit in domestic buildings. Her research goal is to better address householders’ decision-making process on energy retrofit adoption to assist policy-makers in successfully stimulating energy efficiency transitioning. She has worked in architectural practices, volunteered at GreenBRIDGE and Scroope Journal, and collaborated with the Living Laboratory for Sustainability with during her time at Cambridge.
