Ian Hodge is Emeritus Professor of Rural Economy in the University of Cambridge. He has taught in Cambridge since 1983 and was Head of the Department of Land Economy between 2002 and 2011. He is a Life Fellow of Hughes Hall and was Fellow of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors. He is a member of the Department of Environment Food and Rural Affairs (Defra) Economics Advisory Panel and was President of the Agricultural Economics Society in 2007-08.

Ian's research interests include environmental governance, rural policy, property, planning and land use. His book, ‘The Governance of the Countryside’, was published by Cambridge University Press in 2016.
