Dr. Jinying Xu is a Marie Skłodowska–Curie Fellow in the Department of Engineering since October 2022. Her research project is “Data science and digital technologies for intelligent carbon management in the whole life of highway assets”. The project aims to develop a standardised carbon data model for the digitalisation and automation of carbon data measurement and reporting to collect trustworthy data that facilitate informed carbon management decision-making in highway assets. This project is a part of the Future Roads Fellowship Programme. Dr. Xu works closely with industry collaborators including National Highways, Costain, SAP.

Before joining Cambridge, she worked as a Postdoctoral Fellow at HKU and was the research team leader and then a project manager of a 1-million-pound Innovation and Technology Fund project. She received her Ph.D. at the University of Hong Kong (HKU) in 2021, MPhil from Tongji University in 2017, and BEng from Harbin Institute of Technology in 2014. Her research interests include data science for construction sustainability, smart construction and facility management, construction digital transformation, human-organisation-technology fit, and human-machine augmentation in engineering. From 2023-24, Jinying was also a Cambridge Zero David MacKay Research Associate at Darwin College.
