Before joining the Judge Business School, Jochen Menges was a Research Associate at the Institute for Leadership and Human Resource Management at the University of St. Gallen in Switzerland (where he did his Ph.D.) and then a Visiting Scholar at the Graduate School of Arts and Science at Yale University in the United States. He has worked as a consultant and executive trainer on leadership and human resources issues, and as the scientific project leader of a major employer quality assessment study, he evaluated more than 450 companies in Germany regarding their potential to attract and retain talent.
Jochen's primary research interests are leadership (especially effective leadership behaviours and leader-follower interaction), human resource management (especially high performance work systems and employer quality), and emotions in organisations (especially affective climates, cultures, and competencies, collective and individual emotion regulation, and emotional intelligence). Jochen has won numerous awards and scholarships, including the Outstanding Author Contribution Award at the Emerald Literati Network Awards for Excellence 2010, and he is widely published.
