Maria is a 3rd Year PhD Candidate in the Centre for Sustainable Development, Department of Engineering. Maria’s PhD research explores how to manage physical infrastructure systems in cities to protect public health from climate-related hazards. Maria is working with several UK and international cities as part of her PhD research including Belfast, Ottawa, and London. The end goal of the research is to inform future policy and best practices on how to develop holistic preventive infrastructure responses to reduce climate-health risks. Before starting her PhD Maria completed a MRes degree at the University of Cambridge and worked in project management roles for the Royal Parks charity and a construction consultancy.
