Marietta is Head of Technical Barriers to Trade at the UK’s Department for Business and Trade. In this role, she leads on policy development in some of the most exciting areas of international economic policy: removing barriers to international trade to support the UK’s integration in global supply chains, ensure access to critical imports, and thereby support the UK response to key policy challenges like the green industrial transition, multilateral fragmentation, and protecting free and fair trade of critical inputs.
Marietta looks back on a career in international trade policy making, spanning roles as Head of Green Strategy in her department, at the UN in Geneva, in the public sector in Germany and Peru, and in academia in Switzerland and the UK. For her research on international trade and development, she was nominated as a Forbes 30under30.
Marietta holds a PhD from LSE, a Master’s degree from IHEID in Geneva, and completed her undergraduate degree at the School of Oriental and African Studies (SOAS). Marietta is a proud alumna of the United World College in Eswatini.
