Dr Petra Geraats is a University Associate Professor in the Faculty of Economics at the University of Cambridge. Her research interests include macroeconomics, international finance and behavioural economics, with a special interest in transparency of monetary policy.

She did her BA and MEcon at Tilburg University in the Netherlands, and after that undertook a PhD on Transparency and Financial Markets at the University of California at Berkeley. She has served as an Advisor in the Independent Evaluation Office of the International Monetary Fund, as an external expert in the Central Bank Studies group, Monetary and Economic Department, Bank for International Settlements and has been part of independent evaluations of monetary policy of the ECB (MECB report) and the Norwegian central bank (Norges Bank Watch).

She is a Fellow of St John's College.
