Dr Petra Vertes’ research builds on methods and ideas from physics and applies them to fundamental problems in neuroscience. In particular, she is interested in the structure of brain networks, from the microscopic scale of neurons to the large-scale connectivity of brain regions, in both health and disease. Insights into these question may have important implications for our understanding of, and therapeutic approaches to cognitive impairments associated with mental illnesses, brain injury and ageing.
She is also one of the organizers of Cambridge Networks Network (CNN), a new forum for academics across different departments in Cambridge who share an interest in Complex Networks.
