Senior Tutor and Director of Studies in History, Churchill College, Cambridge

Richard Partington is Senior Tutor, Senior Admissions Tutor and Director of Studies in History. He is an historian of late-medieval British politics, war, law and crime, with a particular interest in the fourteenth century and especially the rule of Edward III (1327-77).

Richard teaches both undergraduate and graduate students and lectures in the Faculty of History. As Senior Tutor he is responsible for the admission, education and welfare of students, in which he is assisted by the College's Tutors and Directors of Studies, and the Fellowship more widely. He is one of the University's most experienced Admissions Tutors, and chairs its policy committees on student selection and outreach. He passionately believes in facilitating social mobility through access to university, and is equally committed to maintaining the highest academic standards; indeed he believes that these two objectives go hand-in-hand.
