Susie is leading work to maximise impact by better alignment of UK government international operations through the global network of Embassies / High Commissions, within the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office Transformation Team.
Until August 2020, Susie was Deputy Head of the UK Mission in Nairobi, Kenya. Susie chose a Posting in Nairobi for the opportunities it presented to build on her international development background, 15 years in diplomacy, and strong interest in innovation-driven entrepreneurship. As part of her role, Susie looked at new resources to support Science, Tech and Innovation in Africa and chaired the cross-departmental group for this in Nairobi, feeding into the London hub.
Prior to joining the UK Mission in Nairobi, Susie was a Deputy Director in the Foreign and Commonwealth Office heading up the Economic Growth and Business department, following four years as Consul General in Boston Massachusetts and three years in Dar as Salaam as Deputy High Commissioner to Tanzania. She has also lived and worked in Guatemala, El Salvador and Pakistan.
Susie’s qualifications include an undergraduate degree in Human Sciences from Oxford University and an MSc in Health Promotion from The London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine’
