The Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET) is Europe's largest professional engineering institution, and supports the professional needs of over 150,000 members worldwide. The IET has 45 "Academic Partnerships" with UK Universities (though these do not include Cambridge). It is frequently called upon to make submissions on behalf of the engineering profession in public policy consultations, often working closely with leading researchers as members of its policy panels.
