Head of Social Science, Government Office for Science

Carrie Heitmeyer is Head of Social Science in the Government Office for Science. She was previously Senior Science Advisor for the secretariat of the Scientific Advisory Group for Emergencies (SAGE), where she coordinated social and behavioural science for the Covid response. Carrie has previously worked in policy and social research roles in the Civil Service (BEIS, DHSC) and at the University of Sussex as a Research Fellow in Social Anthropology. She is currently a Senior Visiting Fellow in the Department of Anthropology at the LSE.
