Professor Jim Norton

Chair, Digital Systems Engineering Community of Practice at Royal Academy of Engineering

Jim Norton is a Fellow of the UK Royal Academy of Engineering, where he is Chair of its Community of Practice in Digital Systems Engineering and a member of its Audit & Risk Committee. He is also a Pro-Chancellor of Coventry University. Jim is a non-executive director of Applegate Marketplace Ltd and of the Canada-UK Council. He is a Trustee and Director of the Foundation for Information Policy Research.

Jim has recently retired as an external member of the Board of the UK Parliament's Office of Science & Technology (POST). He has held board roles in the private, public and charitable sectors and was a founder member of the Cabinet Office Performance & Innovation Unit, (later known as the Prime Minister’s Strategy Unit). Jim is a Past President of BCS, the Chartered Institute for IT and a Life Fellow of the Institute of Directors. He is a Chartered Director, Chartered Engineer and Chartered IT Professional.
